Environmental Policy
The Environmental Policy of Archers Butchers ltd (“the Company”) is to ensure so far as it is reasonably practicable that its operations will be carried out with a commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment.
As caterers we know that we generate waste products, the main causes are food packaging materials, wasted food and food waste (vegetable peelings, excess fat or bones from meat etc) produced during the preparation of our products. However as we strive for excellence in every aspect of our business we are committed to minimising the environmental impacts of the business operation.
- Source all our meat as locally as possible to reduce food miles
- Use farms with good sustainability policies/practices.
- Use renewable energy sources such as solar power for electricity and a heat exchange system for hot water
- Use low energy LED lighting where possible
- Where possible we will use recycled or ecologically friendly packaging
- Only hand out plastic shopping bags to customers if they ask for them, offer reusable bags instead.
- Encourage customers to bring their own containers to put food in.
- Manage waste generated from my business operations according to the principles of reduction, re-use, and recycling. (cardboard/paper/plastics/bottles.)
- Encourage employees to cycle to work using the cycle to work scheme.
- Comply as a minimum with all relevant environmental legislation as well as other environmental requirements.
This Environmental Policy Statement will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. The management team endorses these policy statements and is fully committed to their implementation.
